More on CattleTrace
In early 2018, CattleTrace collaborators began working to develop a purpose-built infrastructure to track cattle movement through the supply chain. CattleTrace will utilize ultra-high frequency technologies to collect the minimal necessary data, including an individual animal identification number, a GPS location, and date and time, in order to track animals in the event of a disease outbreak. Tag readers will be located at livestock markets, including Russell Livestock, feed yards and beef processors, with movement data collection beginning this fall and continuing for approximately two years. If you have questions related to the CattleTrace pilot project, contact Cassie Kniebel, program manager, at 785-564-7446 or ckniebel@vet.k-state.edu, or go to cattletrace.org.
